Why Tell Others?

Speaker: Ed Wright

Big Idea: If you are a Christ follower, you have a story and God has placed you where you are to share that story with someone else!

IDENTITY

1. Salt
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

Matthew 5:13 (ESV)

2. Ambassadors
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (ESV)

3. Ready

but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15 (ESV)

4. Light
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14 (ESV)

URGENCY

1. The Good News Offers Freedom to All
38 Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.

Acts 13:38-39 (ESV)

2. The Good News Offers Rescue to All
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. …. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:11-15 (ESV)

YOUR STORY
I. Begins with the Gospel
  • Perfect Creation
  • The Fall – Genesis 2:15-17 (ESV)
  • God’s Solution – Romans 3:10-23 (ESV)
  • The Choice – It involves committing one’s mind, heart and will to God.
II. Your Story to Tell
Your Job!
  1. It is not our job to “save” anybody.
  2. The time of someone’s decision is God’s not ours.
Your Story Has Three Key Elements:
  1. Before
  2. Commitment
  3. After
