  1. Knowing us, He became one of us.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

  1. Loving us, He gave His life for us.

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

  1. Paying for us, He took God’s wrath for us.

  1. Renewing us, He forever changes us.

5  For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.  6  We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin… 11  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:5-6, 11 (ESV)

Some of what has changed about us because of the cross of Jesus:

  • We are God’s child – John 1:12
  • We been redeemed and forgiven – Colossians 1:14
  • We are Christ’s friend – John 15:15
  • We have been justified – Romans 5:1
  • We have direct access to God thru the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 2:18
  • We are free forever from condemnation – Romans 8:1
  • We cannot be separated from the love of God – Romans 8:35-29
  • We have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control – 2 Timothy 1:7
  • We are God’s workmanship – Ephesians 2:10
  • We can do all things through Christ who strengthens me – Philippians 4:13

These four reasons deserve our greatest gratitude. These four reasons deserve our deepest commitment. Invite Him to fix, repair, and clean in you.
