Series: His Story

Creator – 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 He was in the beginning with God.  3 All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.  4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.  8  He was not the light but came to bear witness about the light. John 1:1-8 (ESV)

Hope Bringer – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 (ESV)

Submissive, Humble, Obedient – 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50  And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them.  51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. Luke 2:49-51 (ESV)

Patient – 1  On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.  2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.  3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”  4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come. John 2:1-4 (ESV)

Healer, Compassionate, Caring, Helpful – John 2-7

Perfect Sacrifice – 44 It was now about the sixth hour,  and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45 while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.  47 Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent!” Luke 23:44-47 (ESV)

Risen Savior – 1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared.  2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,  3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.  4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel.  5  And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?  6 He is not here but has risen. Luke 24:1-6b (ESV)

Conqueror, Judge – 11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his  presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15 (ESV)
