Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. – Frank Outlaw

We Have the Mind of Christ
12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. 14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned… .  16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14, 16 (ESV)

Benefits to Having the Mind of Christ
  1. We can… love God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all of our mind, and with all our strength. Mark 12:30 (ESV)
  2. We can really know truth
  3. We can actually renew our minds
  4. We can withstand the onslaught of Satan’s attacks
  5. We can replace the old with the new – God’s Displacement Strategy
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.Philippians 4:8-9 (ESV)
  • Whatever is True
  • Whatever is Honorable
  • Whatever is Just (or Right)
  • Whatever is Pure
  • Whatever is Lovely
  • Whatever is Commendable
  • Whatever is of Excellence…Whatever is of Praise
Always Practicing the Presence of Jesus

8 …think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.Philippians 4:8c-9 (ESV)

1. Think about these
2. Practice these things

Big Idea: The joy of experiencing God’s peace is found through what we think on and what we practice.
