Thanksgiving is easy when we see God at work around us.
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine… making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Philippians 1:3-5
Thanksgiving is worshipful when we focus on who God is.
1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart… 2 I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. 3 On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. Psalm 138:1-3
Thanksgiving is by faith when hardship is present.
6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness (gentleness) be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
Developing the Habit of Thanksgiving!
- God deserves our thanksgiving.
- Personalize God’s infinite character into our lives.
- Always remember God’s personal rescue of us.
- Our Salvation, by grace, not works
- Eternity with God awaits us
- God is daily involved in our lives
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Being thankful can be easy, is worshipful, and though at times by faith, is necessary. Develop the habit.
Application: End every day with thanksgiving for a month.
