I. Telling All
- Begins with who we are – For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
- Focuses on those being told – …for the sake of the faith of God’s elect… Titus 1:1b
II. Building Up
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; Colossians 1:9-10
How Can I Grow in Godliness / Christlikeness?
- Surrender to God.
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
- Set Sin Aside.
- Consider ourselves dead to sin
- Follow Jesus’ example of obedience
- Love one another as Jesus has loved us
- Suffer patiently as Jesus did
- Find a mentor
- Keep on Growing!
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:17-18a
III. Giving Hope
2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began 3 and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior; Titus 1:2-3
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-30
Our Takeaway: We live intentionally as Christ’s servants and messengers as we Tell, Build, and Give Hope.
