I. Priority
38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42 (ESV)

II. Prayer
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” 2 And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread, 4 and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.” Luke 11:1-4 (ESV)

God’s Glory and Purposes
• Our Father in heaven
• Hallowed be your name
• Your kingdom come

Three Aspects of God’s will:
1. Sovereign
2. Preceptive
3. Disposition

Man’s Needs – God’s Provision, Pardon, Protection
Provision – Give us each day our daily bread
…give me neither poverty nor riches… 9 lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. Proverbs 30:9 (ESV)
33 … seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
Pardon – Forgive us our sins, as we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us
Protection – And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8b (ESV)
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

Big Idea: God honors Priorities when they line up with His. And He answers Prayer when it is for His Glory.

The Lord’s Prayer
9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV)
